The President of the Republicc of Srpska, Zeljka Cvijanović, said that the Republic of Srpska is being made available to Ukrainian associations and churches in order to help the people in Ukraine.
“Knowing that today we live in a world that is ruthless and in which we have different phenomena, we understand that there is a special concern in the Ukrainian community within the Republic of Srpska and BiH, and so we wanted to say that we are available here as many countries including Ukraine made available to our people during all the times of suffering”, said Cvijanović.
She stated that at today’s meeting in Prnjavor, which was attended by the Serbian member of the Presidency of BiH, Milorad Dodik, ministers in the Government of Republic of Srpska, representatives of the municipality of Prnjavor and the Ukrainian national community, concrete steps were agreed to help the Ukrainian people, associations and clergy.
“It is a humanitarian aspect, reception of people, refugees, possibly reception of children who could spend some time here, financing of costs and obligations by republican institutions, collection of concrete humanitarian aid which we will direct through existing channels and which associations and churches they already know, but also through those who have a more global approach”, Cvijanović explained.
The President of Republic of Srpska said that she supports the work of Ukrainian associations and what is important in improving their position, and especially in nurturing and preserving identity features.
“The Ukrainian community in the Republic of of Srpska nurtures and has bridges of cooperation with its ancestral homeland or motherland”, Cvijanović pointed out.
She added that the municipality of Prnjavor, also known as “Little Europe”, has always been a safe, stable home not only for the constituent peoples, but also for the numerous minority peoples who live in it.
